FAQ
What does INDIGRATE do?

We combine business, engineering, and IT expertise
with an end-to-end process mindset to expand
established industrial engineering methods beyond
their limits. Immersive visualization technologies (VR)
and seamless integration of data in your enterprise
support this objective.

We make it possible for you to achieve quality
engineering results much faster and with scaling
capabilities.

We transfer your engineering expertise to the digital
world and make it collaborative, comprehensive,
and tangible.

How can we benefit
from using INDIGRATE?

INDIGRATE supports your company in the planning
and implementation of production lines, work systems,
and production processes. Our comprehensive,
innovative VR solutions digitalize the entire work
sphere of the industrial engineer. Digitalization
eliminates the cumbersome cardboard engineering
process as well as the time lost while you wait for the
prototype to start production planning. VPP accelerates
your planning processes, making them 3–4 times faster
while consistently maintaining high planning quality.

Put simply: your product on the market, 4x sooner,
with maximum quality.

What does VPP stand for?

VPP stands for Virtual Process Planner, which is a
conceptual phrase that lines up with modern digital
industrial engineering. VPP is made up of multiple
modules that are coordinated with one another and
that enable a new user-friendly way to handle
production planning.

What is virtual reality (VR)?

At its most basic level, VR is a visualization technology
that generates two different images within a certain
timeframe with the help of a computer processor and
an HMD (head-mounted display).

The human brain can process the images generated as
a 3D image, bringing the virtual world to life. As you
and the HMD move in synchrony, new images based on
your point of view are continuously generated within
milliseconds, imparting the sensations of movement
and interaction inside a world that doesn’t actually
exist. This makes VR the ideal technology for simulating
processes digitally and realistically.

And what makes VR so useful?

The benefits lie in the design and planning of processes
as well as in the training of employees. This is because
the content is presented in a way that can be
experienced. Traditionally, planning and design have
always necessitated the creation of written documents.
Similarly, conventional training methods involve
reading through documents and instructions. VR
replaces these methods with one that is interactive.
Efficiency is manifested not only in terms of time, but
also in terms of cognitive processing, since the user
subconsciously processes information through passive
learning rather than active learning.

“Experiments such as the Cone of Experience have
demonstrated that people remember 20% of what they
hear, 50% of what they see and hear, and 90% of what
they interact with. The study ‘The Impact of VR on
Academic Performance’
corroborated the results of this
experiment through A/B testing at high schools in
China. One group of students was taught using
traditional methods, whereas the other learned using
VR headsets. The result: Group VR had retained 90% of
the learning content after two weeks, the traditionally
taught group just 63%. VR instruction was around one
third more successful in this study.

Which industries are best
suited for VPP?

VPP is designed for manufacturing businesses that
produce products with medium to high complexity in
small to large batch sizes. This includes OEMs, plant
engineering firms, and producers in the automotive,
medical technology, aircraft, white goods, and
semiconductor industries (among others).

What data is used within VPP?

Our goal is to create close collaboration with R&D, so
the 3D product data worked with comes directly from
the product design.

What are the supported
file formats?

All common 3D file formats from typical CAD programs
are supported (.JT, .STEP, etc.).

What can I do
if I don’t have 3D data?

We can support you in the creation and preparation of
3D data, both for logistics and production. We can even
help with the completion of 3D product data, such as
with missing wiring data.

How does VPP get integrated
into my existing processes?

VPP creates a “digital bridge” from R&D to production
planning and all the way to the shop floor. This means
that VPP is not an island solution – rather, it is
comprehensive and crosses the borders of every
process. Each segment of the program has an interface
tailored to the needs of its respective users.

R&D: PDM interface
Production planning: SAP interface
Logistics: SAP interface
Production: SAP interface

How does VPP support
change requests?

VPP is a fully integrated, comprehensive,
interdepartmental solution, so change requests are
naturally processed with all of these same
characteristics. This means that when a change is
made, it is visualized internally in VPP and incorporated
into the relevant users’ segments of the program. Users
can view the change, suggest edits, perform a final
check, and release it.

How are the processes
and systems implemented
after planning?

We’ve teamed up with several external partners who
design modular production line systems and specialize
in process planning. They bring years of experience in
workplace design and ergonomics and will be glad to
support you. And if you plan to design your production
line in-house or already have a supplier you work with
for this, we can customize your VPP integration
accordingly.

Do you provide support
during implementation?

Yes! We are a customer- and solution-oriented supplier
of digital industrial solutions. We have a strong network
to draw on so that we can always find a solid and well-
thought-out solution that works for you.

Can production planning
be documented?

Yes, documentation related to planning can be
generated as a PDF as needed. This can only be done
by the user and no one else.

Is my data saved, analyzed,
or archived?

No – data within VPP is never forwarded to third parties
or otherwise made available. We regard our customers’
processes as proprietary information. Our policy is that
this information is to remain with the customer and
that the customer alone has decision-making authority
over it. No one outside the customer’s network can see,
use, or process the data within VPP because of our
security precautions and our regulations that support
strict confidentiality.

Can I use my own time
study methods in VPP?

Yes, there are ways to integrate your methods for time
and ergonomics studies into VPP. Our concept for VPP
is that it is a digital, comprehensive, integrative bridge
between R&D and the shop floor. That’s why VPP has
several different interfaces and can be integrated
seamlessly into your environment.

How do I introduce VPP
into my systems?

We recommend introducing VPP in two stages. The
first stage is a pilot project, which involves proving the
value added for your specific use case as part of a
production rollout. We progress to the second stage
only if the advantages to you are proven out in practice
during the pilot project. This stage is when you would
implement a full rollout.

What are the technical
requirements?

There are different requirements for the different
software modules and license usage.
